The old mill, one of the picturesque landmarks of the Gem City, is being torn down. It was built on the banks of the Los Gatos Creek for a flour mill in 1854 by Alexander Forbes, and was known as the Clifton Mills. In later years it was used for ice storage and was finally fixed up for the Pacific Gas and Electric light works. It has often been sketched by artists and is one of the favorite postcard pictures of the place. (San Jose Mercury Herald, April 4, 1904)Language
