Description

Full mount taxidermied specimen of a female canvasback (Aythya valisineria). The specimen is standing with its wings closed and head tilted to the right. The back is brown and white speckled and the belly is light. The neck is brown with a white underside. The beak and legs are dark brown. Family: Anatidae Genus: Aythya Species: Aythya valisineria

Notes

The breeding habitat of the canvasback is in North American prairie potholes. The canvasback migrates through the Mississippi Flyway to wintering grounds in the mid-Atlantic United States and the Lower Mississippi Alluvial Valley (LMAV), or the Pacific Flyway to wintering grounds along the coast of California.
