Description

A decorative, commemorative plate depicting the finding of gold by James Marshall in 1848. The center of the plate depicts a scene with four men searching for gold in a river, with horses in the river behind them, and hills and trees in the background. Around the rim of the plate are various embossed depictions of California history, including a ship, cacti, missionaries, covered wagons, and trains.
