Mr. Peter Johnson was born in Denmark, as you say - he came out west at an early age. Where or how he met your Grandma I do not know, her name was "Annie Hayes" - before she married Peter Johnson - your Grandma Annie Johnson was born in New York. Not in Ireland. Your Grandma Annie Johnson was born Sept. 5th 1852 in New York. Before her mother was married to a Mr. Hayes her name was Mary O'Connell she was born in Ireland and I don't know when she came to U.S.A. Peter Johnson died Sept. 15 - 1897 - that is 70 years ago. he died of "Asphixiation" it seems he came in the house late, went to his desk. {unintelligible} to do some book work and fell asleep over the desk, tired, and gas fumes killed him. He was found dead over his desk - Annie Mullen told me it was thought to be a suicide - this I never heard said - in my family. Dr. Knowles now deceased was called. he said, he had gotten to him sooner he would have cut the bottom of his feet and could have saved him. Maybe bleed him, wasn't that strange. Your grandma Annie Johnson died Feb. 3rd 1917 of Chronic nephritis - kidney disease 50 years ago. I was on night duty with her. Dora Simons was there, a dear sweet person Dora was, she died at the age of 50 yrs - arthritis. died in Hollywood and was buried here in L.G. I got some of this information from Places Funeral Parlors - Geo Place sold it some time ago - the woman who talked to me was so nice, said anything else you might want to know, just call me. My father was a Teamster for Pete Johnson, at the age of 16 my mother was in Boarding school in San Jose at Notre Dame Convent - her mother, (my grandmother) lived at Johnsons, and was a mid-wife - she was with your Grandmother with every child - my mother Mrs. James Brown - then Elizabeth Griffin - came out to see Grandma, (her mother) + meet my father right down the street here and they were married - Papa was 28 yrs old and Mama was 16 yrs - I have no pictures of the Johnson's - wish I did. was your own Father buried from Place's Funeral Parlors? if so do you want me to get any data for you. Your Father was a big handsome man - died of c.a. of throat. so they said. I remember your father the day he and your mother came back from seeing a spec. in San Francisco - a scarf around his throat - they said to Grandma Johnson (Annie) the Dr. in S.F. says there is no hope - he did not last long after that. your mother was so cute and so beautiful. I never forgot that day - I was very young. Anything I can do to find out more please ask me. Love May
