Description

Don Ygnacio Martinez, a retired Mexican military officer, built this Pinole estate on a 17,000-acre land grant he received from his government in 1823. He named his holdings Rancho El Pinole, and brought his wife, Maria Martina, and most of his 11 children to live in the large adobe home he had built there. The site now includes Pinole Valley Park and a popular walking trail on Adobe Road, which led to his home.
