TENNENT AVENUE BUSINESSES: In 1961, some cars had fins and the west side of Tennent Avenue between San Pablo Avenue and Pear Street was fully occupied, with the Pinole Shopping Center/Pinole Food Center grocery store and meat market, the post office (before it moved to a new building on Pear Street), Valentine’s Cleaners, and the Town Tavern. These buildings are gone today, and all the land is vacant save for the Pump House gas station and convenience store on the southwest corner of San Pablo and Tennent.
