2518 SP Ave. Tom Stats home 1973Description
THOMAS J. STATS HOME: This was a turn-of-the-20th-century Queen Anne-style home with a large front porch at 2518 San Pablo Avenue, at the northeast end of the city, next to the Square Deal Garage. In the 1920s, San Pablo Avenue was widened, taking away much of the home’s front yard. The Stats brothers (Thomas and Harry) were early Pinole saloonkeepers. The large Stats Saloon stood on the northeast corner of Tennent Avenue and Main Street. Thomas Stats at one time ran the local barbershop and, after incorporation in 1903, was one of the original members of the city’s board of trustees. Today this building is a law office.Copyright
