Ramona Martinez, great-granddaughter of Don Ygnacio Martinez, stands amid the ruins of her family adobe in the Pinole Valley. She was 11 in this photo; she died of cancer at the age of 18. She was the last Martinez to live at the adobe, which was built in the mid 1830s.
