Name/Title

1108 Tennent, Dalessi House (1907)

Description

John and Mary Dalessi (shown here in 1908 with their son, John) raised their three children on the corner of Tennent Avenue and Peach Street (1108 Tennent). John was born in Switzerland in 1863 and his native tongue was Italian. He immigrated here in 1882. Mary was born in California in 1878. John worked as a stableman at the California Powder Works, and later was a truck driver for the Hercules Powder Company. This Italianate-style home with a roof fence was typical of the architecture of the late 1870s and 1880s. Their three children attended the Pinole-Hercules School on the Hill. The Dalessi home was demolished, and a new home was built on this site.
