Name/Title

John A. Fraser home 1874 (Mariotti)

Description

John Fraser built his home in the middle of town on Main Street. It stood next to Manuel Marcos’s Saloon (now The Bear Claw). The home was built for his new bride, Susie, the daughter of neighbor John Boyd. Fraser and Boyd ran the local blacksmith shop in the early 1900s. John Fraser had two sons, Harry and George, also blacksmiths. John Fraser was active in civic affairs and also served as town constable. In 1903, Fraser was one of the first members of the newly elected Board of Trustees of the now-incorporated City of Pinole. The home remained in Fraser hands until the 1950s, when it was torn down for the construction of Pinole Plaza, now Park View Plaza.
