Billie Joe Armstrong (left) and Mike Dirnt (bottom), along with Tre’ Cool (right), form the wildly successful punk rock trio that has won multiple Grammy awards. Billie Joe and Mike were childhood friends and attended Pinole Valley High School. They got their first gig at Rod’s Hickory Pit, where his mother, Ollie, worked. Billie Joe and Mike have been performing together in various bands since 1987. Green Day is one of the world’s most popular rock bands, with more than 85 million records sold worldwide. Green Day’s 2004 album, American Idiot, received six Grammy nominations and was made into a Broadway show.
