Mann Home, built late 1890s (2548 SP Ave.) 1973Description
William W. Mann and his wife, Elizabeth, were born in England in 1861. They married in 1882 and immigrated to Pinole in 1886. William was a foreman at the nearby California Powder Works. Their imposing 1895 Victorian home at 2548 San Pablo Avenue, the northeast end of the city, stood out with its high steeple-like cupola. Here they raised their three children — sons Joseph and Robert were born in England, daughter Georgina was born here in 1887. More recently, the home was the Captain’s Cottage, a Victorian-style tea house, and the offices of Old Time Realtors, owned by the late former Pinole mayor Tom Gozzano, who also owned the building.Copyright
