Description

The John Boyd Home was built in 1874 at the edge of Pinole Creek and Main Street. John Boyd, a blacksmith, lived there with his first wife, Katherine, and their daughter, Susie; then with his second wife, Lucy, and Lucy’s daughter. Lottie Race and her husband, George Pfeiffer, a Hercules carpenter, bought the house in the early 1900s. Pfeiffer remodeled the house into a Victorian home. Mrs. Pfeiffer moved to Pinole in 1898 at the age of 18. She lived in the home 73 years. It was sold in 1979 and today houses the Pinole Creek Cafe.
