Fiesta del Pinole. For many years, the City of Pinole held a celebration commemorating Pinole’s Hispanic roots. This cover to a celebration booklet shows the Captain Pedro Fages expedition that explored Alta California in 1772. Father Juan Crespi kept a diary of the expedition; he recorded that the Indians in this area were fair-skinned and bearded, which explains the bearded Indian in this drawing.Copyright
