Name/Title

Stats Hotel & Saloon (Tina's), northeast corner Tennent Avenue and Main Street, Pre-WWI

Description

North side of San Pablo Avenue: The Harry Stats Hotel and Saloon on the northeast corner of Tennent and San Pablo avenues was one of many bars in Pinole at the turn of the 20th century. Mary Nunes bought the wooden building in the 1920s; because of constant fire danger, she replaced it with the brick building there today. Pontes and Barroca’s Central Grocery operated there for many years. On April 29, 2011, local restaurateur Tina Holztclaw opened Tina’s Place, a destination eatery known for great food, comfortable chairs, great jazz music, and long lines for breakfast and lunch.
