Description

Santa Fe #72 moves eastbound through Pinole on March 20, 1965 passing the Santa Fe Depot. The final Santa Fe depot, designed by H. L. Gilman and built in 1945, replaced the one serving Pinole from 1901-1944, when it burned to the ground. Gilman’s design was developed for Santa Fe depots on the Coast Lines during World War II. The Pinole depot was demolished by the railroad in August 1998.
