Tennent: Ceselini property, 1400 PV Road (Prather)Description
This was across the street from the Faria House (now Kaiser Permanente). It was part of El Rancho Pinole and was the 1/11th of the rancho inherited by Rafaela Martinez after Don Ygnacio’s death in 1848. She married Samuel J. Tennent in 1849 and a year later they returned to the site and built the first frame home in Pinole. The ranch and orchard extended into present-day Pinole, with the large barn used for storing bales of hay needed to feed their many horses and livestock in the winter. The bunkhouse behind the home and slaughterhouse remained with the barn into the 1980s. Tennent’s descendants sold the property in the early 20th century and the original house was taken down. The ranch was a dairy for the Joe Silva family. Jimmy Ceselini married Silva’s daughter, Albertina, and a Spanish-style home was built in the 1920s.Copyright
