In the early 1900s, the site on the southeast corner of San Pablo and Fernandez Avenues was the Charles Vincent Saloon. From the 1930s to the 1970s, this site was occupied by The Gondola Restaurant run by owners, Val and Nina Pera which offered Italian food as well as a bar. In the 1940s through the 1970s, it was the Club Alibi Night Club and Restaurant and sported elegant booths and a full bar.
