Description

BETTY GRIMES HOUSE, RAMONA STREET, 1956: This photo was the inspiration for the real ugly girl on the mural in The Alley Cafe, the one with the rosy cheeks and blonde hair). This is the back of Betty's house. The house looks down on undeveloped Pinole Valley Road. There's no high school, no shopping centers, no houses on Shea Drive and no Elizabeth Stewart School. Betty and her husband, Charley, bought the two-story, four-bedroom, two-bathroom house in Pinole Valley Estates for $13,000. Charley died in 1962, when Peter was eight years old; Betty lived in the house until her death in 2006.
