Description

Winslow Mortimer pen/ink cartoon sketch entitled "Bofors Guns". The cartoon depicts a bearded man holding a briefcase that says "Dr. Disaster". He is knocking on a door with a swastika on it. Above the door it says "Adolf Haven". Two men are peering out the window at the man knocking at the door. One man may be Adolf Hitler. The building is in bad shape, with a shutter falling down. Across the street from "Adolf Haven" is a building with a sign that says "Allies & Co. Ltd.". Two soldiers stand with a large gun. A suited man with a cane stands in front of the gun, he appears to be Winston Churchill. Along the bottom, written in pencil, is "Come now boys, open up; I want to tell you about al lthe Bofors guns the allies are getting!" The cartoon is signed 'Winslow Mortimer' in the bottom right corner.
