Description

1916 Most Distinguished Order of St, Michael and St. George, Companion level, to Major-General J.T. Fotheringham, Army Medical Corps. Obverse silver gilt, white enamel, 7-pointed star surmounted by gold imperial crown. In centre is coloured enamel figure of Saint George. Reverse is same, but St. Geoerge is fighting a dragon. Around centre is gold/blue enamelled title "Auspicium Meloria Aevi" (Token of a Better Age) Suspended to ribbon by swivelled bar, ring and loop on crown. Ribbon is blue, red, blue, 3.7 x 7.5 cms.
