1914-1918 BEF/CEF Medical Corps arm/headband. A Great War medical corps armband made from cloth. It has a stitched red cross in the center. The interior of the armband is dated 11. 12. 17.Context
During the Great War, Canadian and British combat medics, usually stretcher-bearers, wore a medical corps armband in combat. It signified their non-combatant status to enemy forces, although many were still killed or wounded while they attempted to reach and aid the injured.
