A Royal Navy flattened cap made from blue cloth. It was always worn with a cap ribbon. Based on instructions, the cap was worn on the center of the head with the ribbon front centered. The interior of the cap is made from a cloth chinstay, supposed to contain the name of the maker, and the lining is stitched in a circular pattern.Context
The Royal Navy cap was introduced to the Royal Navy Service during the late 1800s. It was also worn by members of the Royal Canadian Navy until the mid-1920s. The cap protected navy personnel from sun and rain; it was very popular. It was also worn by officers, especially during naval landing parties.
