Description

1918 Lord Strathcona's Horse Regimental Sergeant-Major's service dress cap (Stillwell). Made of green khaki wool on the crown, body, and peak. Four grommets in body. Brass Lord Strathcona's Horse Royal Canadian's cap badge (4cm wide x 4.5cm tall). Two British General list chinstrap buttons (1.4cm diameter) and adjustable brown leather chinstrap (1cm wide x 27cm long)with two brass buckles. The sweatband is made of brown leather. The underside of the peak is a turquoise Fabrikoid fabric. The inner crown lining is made of fine wool or cotton twill, covered in a thin, brown, translucent fabric. Translucent crown lining is ripped in several locations on the front and left of the cap. Stitching around stiffener of inner cap lining is gone. Stitching of top of sweatband on left of cap is unravelling. Underside of peak is spotted with black marks. Accession number tag sewn to rear body seam.
