A Great War service khaki cap made from drab wool material. The top is flattened and has a front visor. An adjustable leather chin is connected to two chinstrap bottoms on both sides of the cap. In the center of the cap is a Canadian Machine Gun cap badge. It appears to be made of copper or gilding metal, crossing one another are Vickers M.G., several jewels are in the central band of the Crown, and the word "Canada" is written at the bottom of the cap badge. See 1918-1919 8th Battalion officer's service dress cap for context. Footnote: First formed in 1914, the Yukon Motor Machine Gun Battery was led by Captain H. F. V. Meurling. Originally, it consisted of 50 members. It mobilized in Victoria and was connected to the 2nd Canadian Mounted Rifles. It departed from Montreal for Britain on June 12, 1915. On July 26, 1915, the Yukon Motor Machine Gun Battery became attached to the Eaton Motor Machine Gun Battey. It arrived in France on August 16, 1916, and was attached to the 1st Canadian Motor Machine Gun Brigade before becoming absorbed by the 2nd Canadian Motor Machine Gun Brigade on June 8, 1918.Dimensions
