1940's Royal Canadian Navy seaman's cap w/HMCS HAIDA tally made of black broadcloth wool. The body and cap band are stiffened. The oval crown is not stiffened. On either side of the body are two black grommet ventilation holes. The tally ribbon is black and reads "H.M.C.S. HAIDA" in gold embroidered lettering.
The inside is lined with canvas. The body lining is a light brown canvas while the crown lining is a black/gray/brown lining fabric. An additional crown lining is gathered into the centre with a string. This leaves an opening between the two layers to store items. A dark blue braided cord (2.7 cm wide) attaches to one side of the cap. The other side was likely ripped out of place.
