North Union Shakers, Warrensville Township, 19th Century, Cleveland, 1890s, Cleveland HeightsDescription
Plate 57 from from Shakers & Kirtland by Louis Baus showing an east view of the hemlock grove along present-day North Park Boulevard.
Baus description: "Above the north bank of the brook, between the mill family house and the grist mill, was a very beautiful grove of hemlock. The Shakers left it as nature made it, and enjoyed its inviting hospitality with little outings, and sometimes prayer meetings. After North Park Blvd. was cut through, we see it from the eastward, and still enchanting."Photograph Details
