Description

2-page letter dated October 26, 1981 on Shaker Square letterhead from Lawrence "Larry" Albert, owner of Shaker Square, to James W. Male of Park View Federal Savings & Loan in Cleveland regarding the October 3, 1981 fire at Shaker Square. According to the letter, the fire started in the basement of Blace Cleaners and spread upward to Richard Bowen's space on the second floor. Shaker Blue, Blace, Colony Theatre, and Bowen's were damaged by the fire, and smoke and water damage caused Lewis & Clark, Darnay's, the Union Commerce Bank, and Edith Miller to temporarily close.
