Plate 55 from from Shakers & Kirtland by Louis Baus showing the ruins of the stone gristmill in Doan Brook Gorge. Baus description: "[Plate 55] All that remained of the grist mill after being blown up on July 4-1886. Below [Plate 56] is seen the old dam and mill race. What an ugly contrast to the once finely and stronly [sic] built monument of the Shaker industry."
