Undated Plate 53 from from Shakers & Kirtland by Louis Baus showing a northeast view of the stone gristmill in Doan Brook Gorge.
Baus description: "The front (north side) was laid with heavy blocks of stone, mitered in, laid with hydraulic cement. It probably would have withstood the blasts of centuries, and what a wonderful sight it would be today, adding beauty as well as interest to the beautiful surroundings. But this was not to be as all visions of Shaker habitation has gone forever, and only the lakes reflect the history of the past."Photograph Details
