Scope and Content

Playbill for "The Last Loaf" by George Melville Baker with burletta "Day After the Fair," presented by the Dramatic Club of Warrensville. The play was held at the Town Hall on Saturday, February 14, 1885. The cast included G.W. Norris, C.B. Hammond, R.W. Prichard, Bertram Woods, U.G. Bleasdale, Eliza Holtz, Gertrude Clapp, and Sarah Caley. Found in Warrensville Township scrapbook (SCR WAR 5).

Context

George W. Norris, who taught in Warrensville High School, later became a United States Senator from Nebraska. Bertram Woods left a legacy in his will for the construction of a library at or near the center of Warrensville. The proceeds of this legacy were used to construct the Bertram Woods Branch of the Shaker Heights Public Library.
