Undated Plate 80 from Shakers & Kirtland by Louis Baus showing a white-haired Dr. Joseph R. Slingerland of the Union Shaker Village in a dark suit and bow tie. Baus description: "While not a member of North Union, Dr. J. R. Slingerland, trustee of Union Village, was very active in its transactions and often visited the place. It was he, who in 1902, with Oliver C. Hampton, trustee of Union Village, sold the entire Shaker property for $316,000. A few year [sic] later this land sold for $1,365,000."Photograph Details
