Plate K from from Shakers & Kirtland by Louis Baus showing a blacksmith shop along the Chagrin River in Kirtland, Ohio. Multiple horse-drawn carriages stand near the shop, and a sign along the shop entrance reads "HORSE SHOEING."
Baus description: "The old ryhme [sic] - For the want of a horse shoe nail the kingdom was lost; seems to apply to our early villiages [sic]. Without the blacksmith shop the village must have been lost, and Kirtland certainly gave it a beautiful setting on the bank of the Chagrin River."Photograph Details
