Mr. Hanson and Mr. Olsen had married sisters and came out west by covered wagon, but Mrs. Olson died
The two families were so close, people considered them the same family
They bought Alki point from Doc Maynard in 1868
First bought 300 acres, then another 100
Had a self sustaining farm, and hunted deer on Blake island
Maynard house was remodeled and owned outside the family
Alki point lighthouse was originally a coal burning lantern hanging on a pole, until the Coast Guard bought the land and built the lighthouse
Mr. Smith is related to Ivar Haglund, because his aunt and Mr. Haglund's Mother were sisters
His grandmother met A.A. Smith, who tore down the Alki hotel to build the Stockade hotel
A.A. Smith also built the cottages that went from the Stockade to where Admiral way intersects 63rd and 64th
His father was born in Kirkland in 1892, lived on 60th street just south of West Steven's street
