Transcription of Doc Maynard Letter dated April 11, 1857 Letter from David S. Maynard, in Seattle, to son (Henry Maynard). Maynard describes his joy in hearing the news from Henry on the birth of his son and that he is now a grandfather. Maynard is sorry to hear of Henry’s hardship in working land, and reminds him that he will have his own land in Seattle. Maynard describes the extent of his crops and animals and prices he receives. He goes on to describe the local fisheries. Maynard has added to his holdings in Drugs, Drygoods and Hardware. He continues to hope that his children will join him in Seattle and will outfit them with land.
