Description

Mosquito fleet ship "Corona" at dock with passengers loaded and ready to go. Newspaper boy on dock selling papers to passengers, two women sit up front on the bow. This small ship went to Alki captained by C.C Guntert once a day except Sunday. This would have been caught at the foot of Columbia. (See map copy from the Kitsap Co. Hist. Soc) Pencil note on reverse: Mrs. Beason (sp?) an is with her dog to ... As per John Kelly: 8/21/09 Napthe gas engine Capt. CC Guntert of Seattle was the owner 1908-1930 Official boat # 205144, constructed of wood, 13 gross tons, 8 net tons Dimensions - length 43.5', breadth 9.5', depth 3.8' offered passenger service, Home port was Seattle/Port Townsend was later listed as "gas screw" propulsion, 25 horsepower Boat was possible named after 143' schooner "Corona" built at Port Blakely in 1883 As Per John Kelly 11/22/2009
