Sherman, W.T.,Gen & Photo of his staff at Atlanta Photo, c. 1864. b/w. Copies of portrait photo of William Tecumseh Sherman in his Union Army uniform as Maj. Gen. Classic pose, head/shoulders view, photo engraving. Also extemporaneous shot of Sherman with his staff standing on wooden plank deck beside cannon. Typed on back: "Maj. Gen. Sherman and staff, taken at Atlanta, Ga." (#389)
Included in the file is a photo copy of a note that accompanied the original photo (at date of this catalog entry not able to determine location of the original photo. Sent to Roy Coy, perhaps it is in the SJM collection, but not discernible in the database on this date.)
Note contents:
"Clayton--I am enclosing this picture of Wm Tecumseh Sherman and staff at Atlanta. THe writing on the back of photo is my father's writing. Emal L. Clarke Wallace, Aug. 19, 1951.
(Later describes that her father had a cameo spot in "Gone With the Wind" movie.")
