Handwritten on back: Was by this school Feb. 3, 1916 "The Colored High School, built in 1888 for $17.500, served the black population of St. Joseph. It encompassed primary, junior high, and high school grades, and served children living south of Frederick Avenue. The building was located at the northeast corner of Angelique and Eighteenth Streets. The building no longer stands....St. Joseph, A Postcard History...Davis/White
