Mud Springs Pony Express Station Site, Nebraska, Photos, 1958. Three photos, one of Pony Express Marker for Mud Springs, and two of the general area where the Station was situated. b/w 95.1P.443 = Stone aggregate marker with round, bronze Pony Express Rider inserted and with rectangular bronze plaque with text underneath. Inscribed: "Mud Springs Station. A station on the Pony Express Route. 1860-1861. A station on the First transcontinental Telegraph line, and on the Overland Stage Route. Battle between Sioux Indians and U.S. Troops Feb.6,7, 1865. This site has been given to the State of Nebraska by Mrs. Etta A. Scherer and children to be preserved as a memorial to all early pioneers who won the West.
