Missouri Historical Society Robidoux Documents. 1837.
Photocopies of original document that Hugh Lewis used in his research. Documents are from the St. Louis area (Missouri Historical Society and St. Louis Archives). St. Joseph Museum archivists have divided these documents into folders by years beginning with 1797 and ending with the 1850s. One file is of documents of unknown dates. Documents include correspondence, account records, deeds, and other legal documents. Language of documents varies - English, French, and Spanish. This set of files is 2019.13.85 through 2019.13.107. Robidoux is allowed to trade "At the Blacksnake Hills with the Ioways and Sacs of Missouri River. At Bellevue Roy's Grave. Papillion and Mahas Dirt Village with the Ottoes and Omahas at a place near the mouth of Pormillion River at Fort Lookout at the mouth Teton River, at mouth of the Big and Little Cheyenne. Cherry and Lyvan Rivers with a different bands of Sioux and the Cheyennes and at the Pawnee Dirt Villages on the Loup Forks of the Platte with the Pawnees."
Pratte, Chouteau and Company are allowed to trade at "Bellevue, Roy's Grave, Papillion and Mahas Dirt Village with the Otoes and Omahas an at the Pawnee Villages on the Loup Fork of the Platte with the Pawnees."
The other document is a letter from Crooks to Chouteau. He is on his way to meet Chouteau at New York. He reports that Dougherty is bringing "his Indians" to Washington D.C.Collection
