Description

Conrad Female Ancestor Daguerreotype, c 1850. Small photo in copper frame submitted with Conrad family photos from the Thomas Conrad & Mary Ivory Conrad. It was included with a daguerreotype of a toddler child, labeled Martha Conrad (Clarke) who was the oldest child of Thomas & Mary. The photo could be of Mary Ivory Conrad, but the woman pictured does not resemble Mary enough. Perhaps it is Mary Ivory's mother or maybe that of Thomas's. Frame is one half of a dual frame. The woman is dressed in ante-bellum style dark print dress with white collar. Her dark hair is pulled back into a snood. She is seated in high back chair with cross cut-out. Pastoral scenery behind.
