Nathan Boone and the American Frontier is the biography of Daniel Boone's son, Nathan. His childhood spent in Kentucky and Virginia, he moved with his family to what later became Missouri. A hunter, trapper, and surveyor, Nathan Boone lead a company of rangers in the War of 1812 and the Black Hawk war of 1831, after which he made a career in the military, serving in Iowa and Indian Territory. He retired to Greene County, Missouri, near Springfield, in 1848 where he had farms and was a slaveholder. He died there in October, 1856.

Regarding the burial site of Daniel Morgan Boone, son of the famous Daniel Boone. The younger Boone was one of the first white settlers in what is now southern Kansas City, and served as an Indian agent in Missouri & Kansas. His gravestone notes "Captain of the Missouri MTD Militia War of 1812", Born: 12-23-1769, Died 6-13-1839.
The Native sons of Kansas City plan an 8 acre park around the site.
