News clipping - "Old Galt House Is Being Razed". Galt House,4th Sylvanie, was one of the oldest hosteleries of the pre-Civil War period.
It was once used as a convent by the Sacred Heart from 1854-1857. A photograph of the building is included with the clipping.
Also noted it was called the Allen House at the time of the Civil War. In 1880's it was the Griffin House, and it became the Galt House Hotel in the 1890's until it closed. The original Galt House was at 3rd & Sylvanie.Lexicon
