Arthur Pryor is a St. Joseph native. The booklet begins with a brief history of the American peoples who eventually prevailed in their rebellion against British rule. It is followed by brief profiles of the composers, including Arthur Pryor. Included on the CD are 2 Pryor Marches--Ye Boston Tea Party and Bunker Hill March She notes: "Arthur Pryor (B. St. Joseph , MO 1870-1942). Pryor's father founded and led St. Joseph's Silver Cornet Band, which Arthur joined at age 12 or so. In 1892, he joined Sousa's band, and was soon an assistant conductor. Pryor began composing his own trombone solos, and became a star player with an international reputation in his own right. He left Sousa to form his own band in 1903. Many of his contemporaries claimed his was the better band, but Pryor, who became involved in recording and was a staff conductor for the Victor Talking Machine Company, was not the tireless trouper Sousa was in terms of touring nor, apparently, was he a showman at heart. He was happier in the recording studio." A list of the 20 songs on the CD are listed on the reverse side. They include: Yankee Doodle--Fife & Drums National Emblem March--Bagley Valley Forge March--King Keystonian March--Schoendorfer Bunker Hill March--King Salute to Washington--Kiefer Washington Grays March--Graffulla Salute to Williamsport March--Duble Ye Boston Tea Pary March--Pryor Road to Boston--Fife & Drums Old Ironsides March--Bennett Yorktown Centenial March--Sousa York Fusiliers--New York Fusiloiers--Fife & Drums Fort Popham March--Hall Libery Bell March--Sousa America (Overture on National Airs)--Taboni Hail Columbia Overture--Converse 32/Softbound/Illustrations/Song
