Description

Property P26: Joy Navasie, Bowl, Object: pottery, Artist/Maker: Frogwoman, Joy Navasie, (1919 - 2012, Hopi: AZ), Title/Model: Bowl by Joy Navasie, Date/Region: ca. 1950 / Arizona, Medium/Technique: earthenware, polychrome / coil, Edition/Series: unique, 1 of 1, Size: 4.65" H x 6.25" W x 5" opening, Condition: good, Signature/Inscriptions: yes, web foot frog symbol, Exhibitions/Literature: n/a, Description/Notes: A feather and stylized parrot design is created with brown on cream, outlined in black. The usual wear resulting in rubbed off or minor paint loss is throughout and it is consistent with the age, however, the comparable Navasie pots did not appear to have as thin of an application of paint or loss of paint in some areas. The condition of the paint does create a detracting factor from the value.
