Scope and Content

Favors Family There is a photocopy of the five Favors brothers of second generations, Charles, Dave, Pete, Ben and Bert. On that same page is a picture of Mt. Zion Baptist Church Wathena, Kansas. It was pastored by Dr. Charles Favors. The building was demolished and land sold in 1994. Some of the information in this folder is verifiable while other parts are based on the memories of family members of the third generation, as told to them by the second generation of Favors. This information was gathered by Grace Jacqueline Taylor Ford, family member September 2000. Charles and Alice were married September 10, 1875 in Elwood. Kansas. Charles Senior was born in 1854 and Alice in 1857. Charles died in Tanganzia, Kansas while he was preaching. Charles II became a minister as did his brother Dave and the son of Charles II. He was buried at Belmont Cemetery in Wathena, Kansas. He died March 20, 1904 at the age of 50. Alice became the mother of eight children. She died in 1909 at the age of 43. Dorenda was the first child born to Charles and Alice, Candance was the second, Ben was the third child, Thomas Pete known as Pete was the fourth child, Dave was the fifth child, Charles was the sixth child, Francis was the seventh child, and Bert was the eighth child. This folder also has information about the children of Charles and Alice Favors.
