Hurnder, Martha (118 Years Old) Her master was a Revolutionary War Soldier. Martha is a former slave who lives with her daughter Lucy Hubbard. The aged Negress has been making her home in St. Joseph for 25 years. She came here from Clayton, Missouri where she had been the slave of John Tyler. She was born in Virginia and her slave parents were the property of Capt. John Tyler. At his death she was inherited by his son. At the conclusion of the war she and her husband moved to St. Louis, where he died forty years ago. Besides the daughter with whom she is living who is 77, the aged woman has 11 other children Most of them live in or near St. Louis.
