Description

Gelatin dry plate glass negative. Image appears to be a display for Goodyear tires. Foreground is smooth bare floor, appears to be cement. Large zeppelin model hangs from high celling at right. Motorcycle or bicycle with passenger carriage visible at left. Behind this in center of image is a room with wooden walls. Large sign at top of front wall, "GOOD [Goodyear winged foot logo] YEAR / AKRON / MOTOCYCLE / & BICYCLE TIRES". Several plaques hang on wall, appear to be awards. Row of bicycle or motorcycle tires at bottom right of wall. On right side of room hangs equipment of some kind, most likely tire-related. Opening with circular window on either side in front wall, inside of room several bicycles, more equipment hanging on inside of walls visible. Part of another large sign, probably Goodyear as "AR / RS" are visible, more equipment, and American flag banners hanging from high ceiling in left background. In right background is part of another sign , reads "GO / AERON", possibly Goodyear Aeronautics. High ceiling with rafters visible above everything else in image. Series of Goodyear display prints.

Legal Status: PERMANENT COLLECTION, 1967 Notes: Willard Penfield Seiberling (1892-1981) was an avid and amateur photographer who developed his photographic interest while attending Princeton University. The Dark Room at Stan Hywet Hall was added to the floorplan during constuction for his use. Willard is credited with most of the early images of Stan Hywet. Note: Working Print ( "R" suffix) and Negative made Oct 2000.
