My dear Gertrude, It was a great surprise to me to learn of the little stranger to your home and I am glad to know that you are able to enjoy little Grace.
It must be cool and delightful where you were [ill.]. Mr. Edison and I went up the Lakes this summer as far as the Sault and thoroughly enjoyed our trip. Today I start for a very short visit with Mrs. Colgate in the Adirondacks and I am expecting a good time. We have had a pleasant summer at Chautau-qua and I feel quite ambitious to get at something now but soon there will be such a whirl of things that you simply do not know which to take up first. Orange is a place having so many different interests.
I must get at my packing. Will you be [ill.] at all this fall or winter?
With sincere congratulations and all happiness to you and your family.
Yours very sincerely,
Mina M. Edison
