SHH 94.276Description
Black and white photographic print of five standing women, all dressed in costume. Figures stand outside on grassy area with trees and bushes behind them. Figures all wear dark skirts and camisole type tops which have lace closures at bodice fronts; embroidery at hems of skirts, straps, and across bodice fronts; dress is worn over a white loose blouse with 3/4 length sleeves and gathered crew necklines; white aprons. Each figure wears a white double pointed hat with back drapery. Arms are held behind figure or embrace others. Center female figure appears to be older than the other four who appear to be in their twenties. These five women are attributed to be the Seiberlings' household domestic staff dressed for the Shakespeare Ball held on June 16, 1916, at Stan Hywet Hall. Marie Reider Cross, Gertrude's ladies' maid, is standing at far left with right hand on hip. The other female servants are unidentified at present.
